Funding success from Science City

Posted by

We were successful in raising £30,500 from Science City’s ERDF-funded Public Engagement Programme to support three writers’ residencies in dementia care settings. The project is part of a public engagement programme running alongside a new play by Fiona Evans that Live Theatre and the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough is commissioning. The play with songs, Geordie Sinatra, explores issues around dementia. It will be supported by the project which will see three writers – Fiona Evans, Rebecca Jenkins and Romi Jones (recruited via an advert in our newsletter) – working with people with dementia and their carers, and informed by scientists from Newcastle University. The writers will be commissioned to write new work in response to their experiences. The project is produced in partnership with Changing Age at Newcastle University and the Alzheimer’s Society. The outcomes of the project will be celebrated around the production of the play next spring.
