American poet Brian Turner visits Newcastle to read from his compelling collection Here, Bullet, a harrowing first-hand account of the war. Turner served for seven years in the US army and was an infantry team leader for a year in Iraq. This first collection garnered nine literary awards and a Lannan Literary Fellowship when it was published in the US. A Northern Writers' Centre event.

Crusaders author Richard T Kelly and his editor at Faber and Faber, Lee Brackstone, discuss how the book depicts the North East and what appears to be a renaissance in fiction publishing from the north of England. The event, which took place at Newcastle's Live Theatre on 3 March 2008, included extracts from the book which were specially adapted by Richard and performed by actors.

From Elegies for Andrew, a poetic collaboration in memory of Andrew Waterhouse. Poets Ian Duhig, Linda France, WN Herbert and Sean O'Brien worked with composer Keith Morris to create new work in memory of poet Andrew Waterhouse. Elegies for Andrew was commissioned by New Writing North and premiered at a live event as part of the Magnetic North programme in November 2003 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Music composed by Keith Morris.
