This series of masterclasses with writers and industry experts is open to emerging screenwriters looking to enhance their professional awareness, expand their networks and find new opportunities for their work.
Aimed at aspiring writers, performers and creators, in this online masterclass we’ll be speaking to comedian, writer and podcaster James Acaster about his experience of creating comedy for audio.
And we’ll also be joined by audio producers and experts to discuss the wider podcasting industry and how podcasts can help support your writing. Confirmed speakers include Ella Watts (Doctor Who: Redacted podcast for BBC Sounds) and Hannah Rose (Producer at Tiger Aspect).
Speaker Bios
James Acaster has received acclaim around the world, including a record-breaking 5 consecutive nominations for ‘Best Comedy Show’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as winning Best Comedy Show at Melbourne Comedy Festival and his latest show, ‘Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999’, was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Special in 2022. He’s a three-times Sunday Times bestselling author and has created and hosted multiple award-winning hit podcasts including ‘Off Menu’ (which he hosts with Ed Gamble), ‘James Acaster’s Perfect Sounds’, and is currently writing a scripted podcast, ‘Springleaf’.
Ella Watts is a podcast producer and consultant specialising in scripted audio. She is Voice Director at Six to Start, the company which makes Zombies, Run! and is best known most recently as the creator, producer and director of Doctor Who: Redacted on BBC Sounds. She is an audio drama expert with over 6 years of experience in the podcast and radio industry.
