Join us in York for an evening of drinks, conversation, and an exciting new literary voice, as we celebrate this year’s NorthBound Book Award. With a chance to hear from the writers and industry professionals who judged the prize, followed by the announcement of this year’s winner – whose manuscript will be published by Saraband in 2025.

This event is open to anyone interested in writing prizes, Northern literature and the publishing industry. Help us celebrate the brilliant work being created and published in the North. Tickets are free, but limited, so be sure to book in advance.

Please arrive from 5.45pm.

6pm – Welcome and introduction to the Northbound Book Award.

Panel: Prizes, publication journeys, and what it means to be ‘emerging’
With previous winner Adam Farrer (Cold Fish Soup), academic Maya Caspari (University of York), publisher Sara Hunt (Saraband), and writer Shaun Wilson. Including a chance for audience Q&As.

7pm – The announcement of the NorthBound Book Award winner.

The NorthBound Book Award is supported by the University of York and Saraband. It is part of New Writing North’s Northern Writers’ Awards which offer prizes and opportunities throughout the year, with a focus on new and emerging talent. Find out more about the awards here.
