Join Annie Garthwaite and Sean Lusk as they discuss fascinating women who have been written out of the history books, despite shaping British society.
The King’s Mother, Annie Garthwaite’s second novel, introduces four women as they try to maneuver their sons into position as King of England during the turbulent Wars of the Roses. Annie Garthwaite grew up in the North East; her debut novel was the acclaimed Cecily.
A Woman of Opinion by Sean Lusk follows the footsteps of pioneering 18th Century feminist, poet, and world traveller Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, who established the inoculation of smallpox in England. Sean Lusk’s first novel, The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudsley was named a Sunday Times Historical Fiction Book of the Month.
Chaired by Anna Disley, New Writing North.
