Newcastle Writing Conference cancelled due to rail strikes

Due to the recently announced rail strikes on Friday 12 May and Saturday 13 May, we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel Newcastle Writing Conference, which was scheduled to take place at The Common Room on Saturday 13 May.
Almost all of our speakers and many attendees were due to travel to Newcastle by train. Over the past few days, we have been considering all the possibilities, including offering the festival in more of a hybrid format and rescheduling for a later date, but we haven’t been able to recreate the same experience with the same speakers, and feel that cancelling is the only viable option.
We are especially disappointed as this was to be our first conference since 2019, and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We’ve been in touch with all ticket holders by email.
