Please meet Group Leaders Zoe Murtagh, Lauren Vevers and Heather Askwith outside of Newcastle City Library. They will wait until 10 past, and then walk with the group to the New Writing North garden on Ellison Place (5 minutes walk).

Please note, this session will be taking place outdoors and there is no access to toilets or drinking water so please bring water with you. The nearest toilets are in Eldon Square. In the event of bad weather we will contact you via telephone by 10am to cancel the session.

We will use attendance registers and the contact information we hold on our registration purposes to comply with Track and Trace requirements.

Who is it for?

Young people aged 12-19. No writing experience necessary. Everyone is welcome.

Working with writer Lauren Vevers you will try out a wide range of different creative writing styles. We currently run Young Writers groups in Gateshead, Newcastle, South Shields, Sunderland, Amble and Cramlington, where groups have done everything from making their own zines to creating short animated films; writing poetry, crime, fantasy and scripts. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never tried writing before. Come along, meet likeminded creative young people and try something new!
