Please note, upon arrival at the library you will be required to either scan the QR code or fill in a paper form for Track and Trace purposes. You must wear a mask whilst inside the library unless you are exempt or have been told you may remove your mask. Water fountains are currently out of use, however the café is open to purchase refreshments if you wish though these can only be consumed in the café area.

Who is it for?

Young people aged 12-19. No writing experience necessary. Everyone is welcome.

The South Shields Young Writers’ Group meets at National Centre for the Written Word (The Word) on Saturdays during term-time.

The group has explored loads of different literary genres and writing styles including poetry, folklore, animation, songwriting and crime-writing. It’s a fun and welcoming group for anyone wanting to develop their writing talent, or simply looking to come along and give it a try.
