Readers’ network

Reading is our passion and we work to bring together readers and authors in various ways.

At a glance

Read Regional

From March to June each year, our Read Regional campaign has authors take part in events where you can hear about their writing and talk to them about their work.

Durham Book Festival

Every October, Durham Book Festival brings the work of new northern writers to a wider audience, as well as regularly attracting household names.

Readers’ newsletter

Our readers’ newsletter goes out once every quarter. Subscribers receive details of upcoming books, as well as recommendations and occasional special offers.

Book groups

There are a number of book groups across the North that are free to attend and always open to new members. They meet regularly (often once a month) and members discuss contemporary and classic literature, usually over a coffee or a glass of wine.

These groups were set up with support from NWN, and now operate independently.

Choose a book group

These groups operate independently of New Writing North. We do our best to ensure that information is always up-to-date, however leader contact details and meeting dates do occasionally change without our knowledge.

We advise that you wait for a response from the group leader before attending your first meeting.

(If you run a book group and would like it to be included on this page, please contact us.)
