Durham Writes

Durham Writes offers a new poetry writing course to County Durham residents of all abilities who are interested in developing their poetry writing skills. Programmed in partnership with Durham County Council, this programme consists of six taster sessions, leading to a six-week masterclass course for select participants.
Targeted Masterclass Course
Eight writers will be selected for a six-week masterclass course led by poet Katharine Goda, which will run on Tuesday evenings throughout June and July in Spennymoor Library.
Participants for the course will also have the opportunity to take part in a mentoring session with poet Anna Woodford, and to meet with publishing professionals in an industry insight session.
All writers will be invited to take part in a Scratch Night at Durham Book Festival 2026.
Applications for the masterclass course are open now and will close on Monday 1 June 2026.
