Ballinger Trust awards £30,000 to fund Cuckoo Young Writers groups in the North East

Following the recent news of support from Newcastle’s Cultural Development Fund we’re delighted to be able to announce further good news. The Ballinger Charitable Trust has awarded us £30,000 over the next two years to secure the longer term future of our Cuckoo Young Writers groups in Newcastle, Sunderland, and Alnwick. This means we can run our core programme of fortnightly writing groups and recruitment activity year-round.

The groups are led by professional writers, for young people to develop their writing. The Newcastle Cultural Development Fund money will mean we are able to encourage harder to reach young people to join the Cuckoo Young Writers Group in Newcastle, and provide channels for young people in all the groups to perform their work in professional venues in Newcastle. We are incredibly grateful to the Ballinger Trust for supporting us to provide these creative opportunities for young people in the North East.
