Be a Changemaker at New Writing North: work opportunity for a person aged 18-25

New Writing North is looking to recruit a young person aged 18-25 to work within the organisation for six months (October-March) as a “changemaker”.
So what is a Changemaker?
Changemakers is an organisation which aims to unlock the leadership potential of young people aged 16-25 by putting them in real life work situations and supporting them to develop, design and lead a project. You can read more about their work on their website and on the information sheets below.
Changemakers recruits organisations to host a young person, known as a “changemaker”, and together the changemaker and organisation develop a project which the young person designs, leads and delivers. This year New Writing North has been selected as a host organisation.
What’s the deal?
If you are selected for the programme you will be supported by Changemakers through training, coaching, peer support and real world leadership experiences. This includes attending a two-day residential midpoint event, end of programme event and one-to-one support from a Changemakers facilitator.You will also meet other young people participating in the scheme and will be invited to participate in the thriving Changemakers network.
You would work within the organisation for ten days over a six-month period and will also be paid by Changemakers at £50 per day.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a young person aged 18-25 who is interested in developing a career in the arts, preferably the literature or publishing sectors. You should be motivated, able to work using your own initiative, a good communicator and keen to learn. You should be to demonstrate your interest in writing, reading and books. We appreciate that you will have other commitments (university/work etc.) and can timetable the ten days worked in negotiation with you, however you must be able to commit to the following dates:
Attending an interview: Early September (Date TBC)
Project planningresidential: Mid-October (Date TBC)
Regional midpoint event: Wednesday 9 January 2012
End of programme event: Thursday 28 March 2013

We will select three people to go forward to interview. The three people will have to fill in an application form from Changemakers.
The three selected people will attend an interview hosted by NWN and Changemakers at the beginning of September. One person will be selected and will go forward to the programme.
