Durham Book Festival begins

Posted by

It’s been months in the planning, but Durham Book Festival is finally here. The festival launched on Tuesday with our schools day at Durham Johnston Comprehensive School, where we were joined by pupils from four other schools to hear authors Simon Bartram, Pip Jones and Linda Newbery. This evening, at a special ceremony at Durham Town Hall, we will announce this winner of the Gordon Burn Prize, which is run in partnership by New Writing North, Faber & Faber and the Gordon Burn Trust. Look out for our announcement later on this evening.

This Saturday and Sunday we are hosting almost 40 literary events across Durham city centre. There is everything from poetry to politics, and we hope you’ll join us for a fantastic weekend of ideas, inspiration and entertainment. The festival runs until Saturday 17 October and the full programme is online at www.durhambookfestival.com
