Early events in libraries and schools for Durham Book Festival

Posted by

We’ve had a couple of Durham Book Festival preview events this week, with more coming next week. Novelists Fiona Shaw and Carolyn Jess-Cooke met readers at Consett Library and Bishop Auckland Library respectively this week, following a book group event in Durham last Friday talking about Gillian Slovo’s new book An Honourable Man, which she’ll be discussing in person during the festival.

Next, we’ll be taking authors into schools to talk to and inspire children across the county: today, children’s author Wendy Meddour will visit South Hetton Primary and Burnside Primary schools. Next week, Waterstones prize-winning author Sally Nicholls will be visiting Framwellgate and Wolsingham Schools, and Roald Dahl Funny Prize-winning illustrator Sara Ogilvie will be working with children at Red Rose Primary School in Chester-le-Street.
