Are you interested in South Asian horror stories, Bengali poetry, or Desi fantasy/fiction? Are you tired of the lack of people of colour in literature? It’s time for Brown Girls to create their own narratives and characters. Brown Girls Write is a writing group for all women of colour who are interested in nurturing their creative writing skills or want to give it a go.
Join us as we work with writer Tahmina Ali to try different types of writing and develop our own stories. It’s free to take part and no writing experience is necessary – just come along, have a go and meet other Brown Girl writers!
Brown Girls Write meets on Wednesdays at 6:00–7:30 pm at the Newcastle Deaf Centre, 2 Summerhill Grove, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE4 6EE. Suitable for people aged 16+.
Current dates: 26 April, 3 May, 10 May, 17 May, 24 May, 7 June, 14 June, 21 June, 28 June, 5 July.

Brown Girls Write is a programme created by Creative Associate Sharmin Islam who has drawn on her own experiences as a South Asian woman pursuing a career in the arts.
