On February 6, 1958, British European Airways Flight 609 crashed on take-off at Munich airport. On board were the young Manchester United team, known as ‘the Busby Babes’. Twenty-one passengers were killed instantly, four were left fighting for their lives, and six more were critically injured.  In Munichs, David Peace details the aftermath of this tragedy, telling the stories of the survivors, those who died, and how Britain and football changed as a result.

Yorkshire-born David Peace has written eleven novels, including The Damned United, GB84, which won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, and Red or Dead, which was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize in 2013.

Chaired by Dr Alex Barber, Durham University.
