Book

In her moving new book, Facing Down the Furies, Edith Hall draws parallels between stories and characters from ancient Greek tragedy and her own life experiences losing family members to suicide. In this deeply personal story, Edith explores the effects of suicide across generations, relating to the ancient Greek idea of the family curse.

Edith Hall is a Professor in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University. She is the author of more than thirty books including Aristotle’s Way: How Ancient Wisdom Can Change Your Life.

Introduced by Professor Janet Stewart, Durham University.
