Join New Writing North and Faber at Northern Stage to celebrate the paperback publication of Eliza Clark’s acclaimed second novel, Penance. This story of a murder among teenagers in a seaside town in the North-East is an utterly chilling and compulsive book that interrogates ideas of truth and how small communities recover in the aftermath of a tragedy.

Eliza Clark is from Newcastle and her debut novel, Boy Parts, was released in 2020. She was selected as one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists in 2023.

We’re thrilled to profile one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary novelists as part of a series of events celebrating the launch of Underdog: The Other Other Brontë, a new play produced by Northern Stage and the National Theatre exploring the lives and legacies of the Brontë sisters.

Chaired by Jessica Andrews, the author of Saltwater and Milk Teeth.

Faber members will receive a code for 10% off, which will also be valid for performances of Underdog: The Other Other Brontë. Faber Members is Faber’s community for readers which offers author events, exclusive editions and literary news. You can join for free at faber.co.uk

Please note, the incorrect date of 17 June was published in our print.
