Doctors Gabriel Weston and Grace Spence Green join us to discuss their boundary blurring books, Alive and To Exist as I Am, and their shared but entirely unique perspectives of being both a doctor and patient in the NHS.
Gabriel Weston is an award-winning writer and presenter. Her books include Direct Red and Dirty Work. She has presented TV shows including Trust Me I’m a Doctor and Incredible Medicine: Dr Weston’s Casebook, and currently works as a part-time surgeon in London.
Grace Spence Green is a junior doctor working to challenge identity and disability narratives in medicine, appearing in the BMJ and Guardian, and across TV and radio. In 2018, aged 22 and a 4th year medical student, she sustained a spinal cord injury and is now a full-time wheelchair user.
Chaired by Professor Jane Macnaughton, Durham University.
