One of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists, Natasha Brown, introduces her acclaimed, Booker Prize 2025 longlisted second novel Universality. When a man is bludgeoned to death with a solid gold bar, a plucky young journalist is determined to solve the mystery of why he was killed. When her investigations lead to a viral exposé linking an amoral banker landlord, an iconoclastic columnist, and a radical anarchist movement, more questions are raised than answered.
Natasha Brown was named one of Observer’s Best Debut Novelists in 2021 for her debut novel Assembly, which was shortlisted for awards including the Goldsmiths Prize and the Orwell Prize for Fiction.
Chaired by Tess Denman-Cleaver, New Writing North.
