This is an old event
An evening with New Writing North to celebrate three exciting Northern literary voices.
Two weeks ahead of the announcement of the 2023 Northern Writers’ Awards, we’re celebrating some of the recent alumni of the awards with an evening showcase at the Magic Hat Café in Newcastle. Come along to enjoy readings and discussion from Adam Farrer, Jade Cuttle and Naomi Kelsey.
Adam Farrer’s NorthBound Book Award-winning Cold Fish Soup is a memoir in essays about life in the forgotten Yorkshire seaside town of Withernsea. Funny, moving and elegiac, the book considers life in a place that is often overlooked.
Eco-poet and musician Jade Cuttle’s critically acclaimed album of poem-songs Algal Bloom breaks down boundaries between spoken word, music and sound art, while sparking an urgently required discussion around our fraying connection to nature.
Newcastle author, Naomi Kelsey will be celebrating the publication of her debut historical novel The Burnings, inspired by the incredible true story of the North Berwick witch trials.
Chaired by Will Mackie, New Writing North. Book sales and books signing with The Bound bookshop.
