Join us for online for the Northern Writers’ Awards launch roadshow, where a panel of writers and writing professionals will share insight and advice with emerging writers who may be considering applying for the awards.

The Northern Writers’ Awards are England’s biggest writer development programme. They are free to enter and offer support, mentoring, placements, publication and cash awards to new, emerging and established writers in the North. There are various submission periods throughout the year, including awards for poetry, fiction, children’s and YA fiction, narrative non-fiction, short stories and writing for television.

For our first panel Senior Programme Manager for Talent Development Will Mackie will be joined by previous Northern Writers’ Award winners Katie Hale, Tawseef Khan and Rachael Allen, who will share their experiences of the industry and their pathways to becoming published authors.

This will be followed by an interactive Q&A session where editorial director Fritha Saunders (Footnote Press) and literary agent Maddy Belton (Madeline Milburn Literary Agency) will be answering your questions about any aspect of the publishing process.

This event will be of interest to new, emerging and established writers across a range of genres who are looking to develop their knowledge of the industry.
