Six weeks of 90-minute workshops to help you start making picture books
Are you interested in writing and illustrating for young children? Do you have a head full of ideas but don’t know where to start? This six-week introductory course will give you the foundational knowledge you need to get started on your picture book making journey.
From format to pitching your idea, this course will give you the tools you need to get started making picture books, as well as insight into the children’s book industry.
This course is best suited to those who wish to both write and illustrate picture books.

About the workshop facilitator
Lucy Farfort is a children’s book illustrator-author who works in a mix of traditional and digital media. After winning first prize in illustration for Faber Children’s inaugural FAB Prize competition, Lucy has gone onto work with a number of publishers including Faber, Little Tiger Press and Scholastic.
Her debut picture book ‘In Our Hands’ from Tate Publishing, was shortlisted for the Jhalak Prize, and nominated for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration.
Lucy is currently working on her second picture book with Tate Publishing, and about to embark on a residency with Seven Stories National Centre for Children’s Books.
