The Writers’ Space

The Writers’ Space is now sold out

The Writers’ Space is a space for writers to connect and learn.

Whether writing is your career or your aspiration, we know that it can be isolating. At New Writing North, we want to support writers at all stages to improve their craft, gain access to agents and industry experts and to have space to network with your peers across the North of England.

For £40*, members of the Writers’ Space will gain access to:

  • Monthly digital seminars led by authors and industry experts
  • 1 online one-to-one surgery with New Writing North
  • Discounted tickets to selected New Writing North events (including Newcastle Writing Conference 2024)
  • Access to the Writers’ Space online networking space

*Discounted rate of £35 for residents of Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland thanks to support from the North of Tyne Combined Authority.

About The Writers' Space

In May 2023, we made the difficult decision to cancel the sold-out Newcastle Writing Conference, due to train strikes. We could see that there was an overwhelming appetite for this kind of content and opportunity for connection, and so the Writers’ Space was born. Members will get a free digital seminar every month, along with quarterly online surgeries with New Writing North staff, and access to the Writers’ Space online networking space.

Membership to the Writers’ Space will start in September 2023 and culminate 8-months later with the Newcastle Writing Conference on 18 May 2024. Members will be given priority access to discounted Early Bird Tickets, and we hope that the conference will allow writers who’ve connected digitally over the 8-months before to come together in person.

We hope to continue the Writers’ Space as an annual membership beyond May 2024, and we’ll be influenced by your feedback as we go forward, to ensure the content of the sessions is shaped by the interests of the group.

Digital seminars will take place in the evenings, on the second Tuesday of every month. If you can’t make one of the sessions, all members will have the opportunity to ask questions in advance and will receive a recording of the event afterwards.

Members will receive the programme of speakers in advance, with seminars led by agents and published writers. Themes will include: editing your work and synopsis writing; pitching your work; social media and publicity; and practical writing exercises.

Session schedule:

Tuesday 12 September
Tuesday 10 October
Tuesday 14 November
Tuesday 12 December
Tuesday 9 January
Tuesday 13 February
Tuesday 12 March
Tuesday 9 April
