This session offers approaches for turning history into fiction, with a focus on developing research skills and drawing from different sources; the distinctive personality of place; constructing characters; and ways of writing back and exploring the past to retrieve, revise, revisit, and rewrite histories. There will be one or two short creative writing exercises.
Dr Laura Fish is an award-winning novelist and Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Northumbria University. She has over 10 years’ experience with the BBC in broadcast television and radio, and is a Fellow of the Iowa International Writers’ Programme.
