Events for writers at Durham Book Festival

Posted by

If you’re a writer we’ve got plenty of events and activities at this year’s Durham Book Festival events that will be of practical use to you. There are two author events during the festival which are particularly relevant to writers: Annabel Pitcher and Chun Sue, both of whom will be talking about the practical realities of being a writer in the UK and China respectively.

In preparation for a theatre production which will tour the North in spring 2013, the Northern Spirit team are running a workshop for writers to come together during Durham Book Festival and discuss what it means to be a Northerner now. If you’re a writer based in the North, this is a great chance to get your voice heard and your opinion counted. Click here to read the Guardian story about the project.

Arvon Foundation, the national charity which runs writing residential courses, is running a special three-day course in Durham just after the book festival. This is a great way to improve your writing, with tutors including Mavis Cheek and Stephen May, and special guest Pat Barker.
