Gordon Burn Prize shortlist announced

We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the Gordon Burn Prize 2015, which champions a fresh, undaunted approach to writing.

The shortlist is:
In Plain Sight: The Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile by Dan Davies (Quercus)
Midland by Honor Gavin (Penned in the Margins)
Noon Tide Toll by Romesh Gunesekera (Granta Books)
Original Rockers by Richard King (Faber & Faber)
Nothing is True and Everything is Possible by Peter Pomerantsev (Faber & Faber)

Judging the 2015 prize are judges actress Maxine Peake, authors Doug Johnstone and Roddy Doyle, and journalist Suzanne Moore and artist Gavin Turk. They are each looking for writing which is evocative of Burn’s own original and daring literary methods.

The Gordon Burn Prize is run in partnership by New Writing North, Faber & Faber and the Gordon Burn Trust.

The winner will be announced on 9 October at Durham Book Festival.

Join us for an evening of celebration as we open the Durham Book Festival and announce the winner of the Gordon Burn Prize 2015, honouring what is undoubtedly some of the most exciting and fresh writing in the UK today. The shortlisted writers will read from their work on the evening.
