Harry Pearson carries Olympic flame to Northumberland

Posted by

After a whirlwind of launch events in libraries from Haltwhistle to Bedlington to Wooler last week, we’re delighted that Harry Pearson’s new book, Housekeepers, Shortlegs and Flemish String, is now available in our shop. Together with photographer Julian Germain, Harry visited three village sports clubs in the east, west and north of Northumberland and this beautiful book is a result of their wanderings. Although the book was commissioned in response to the Olympic year, the sports clubs featured here are both literally and spiritually a long way from the lycra-clad festival of excellence that took place in east London, yet their story is just as uplifting in its own modest way.
