Holocaust Memorial Day

Join New Writing North at Newcastle Central Station on the morning of Monday 27 January for a Holocaust Memorial Day event. Pupils from St John’s Primary, Atkinson Road Primary, Hotspur Primary, and Excelsior Academy worked with poet Bob Beagrie to write poems commemorating the Kindertransport. Some of those poems, which imagine what that forced exodus must have been like for the 10,000 Jewish children fleeing Nazi Germany, will be handed out by the children to commuters at the event. There will also be a choir from Hotspur Primary performing at the station and an installation by artist Kate Eccles.
