Sali Hughes in conversation: Pretty Honest
Posted by
New Writing North is delighted to present this special 4th Estate Literary Salon on Wednesday 5 November, 6.30pm-7.30pm, at Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema with leading beauty expert Sali Hughes to celebrate the publication of her new book, Pretty Honest. Sali will be in conversation with Marie Nixon, talking about 20 years of working in the beauty industry, from assistant make-up artist to beauty editor at The Guardian. She’ll be talking feminism and beauty and answering your questions too.
In Pretty Honest, Sali Hughes debunks the myth that women can’t be interested in beauty and ‘serious issues’ too and draws on over 20 years of wisdom, advice and expertise to show women how to make the most of makeup’s physically and emotionally transformative powers. It’s a work that is part instruction manual, part love letter to makeup – in a writing style that combines beauty editor, feminist and painfully funny best friend.
Tickets: £8.50/£6.50 concs. For more information, see www.tynesidecinema.co.uk/whats-on/films/view/pretty-honest-sali-hughes-in-conversation-with-marie-nixon-a-fourth-estate-literary-salon.
