Programme Manager (Young People & Communities)

Tearlach joined New Writing North as Programme Manager (Young People & Communities) in June 2023, having previously delivered freelance NWN roles as West End Writes Creative Producer, Inkubator Mentor, and Young Writer’s City Lead Writer. Tearlach has 20 years’ experience as a young people and communities theatre and new writing director and facilitator. He has been a core member of Live Theatre Newcastle’s creative team 2002-2008, a visiting lecturer in Applied Theatre Practice at Northumbria and Durham University and has worked widely with cultural organisations and communities here in the north east and in his adopted home Malaysia – in 2017 he set up Teater Padi, a drama resource for young people in the rural state of Perlis. He has a BA in Performing Arts: Drama from Northumbria University and an MA in Creative Writing from Newcastle University.
