William Trevor: 1999

William Trevor was born in Mitchelstown, County Cork in 1928. He wrote many novels and won several prizes, including the Hawthornden Prize, the Yorkshire Post Book of the Year Award and the Whitbread Book of the Year Award. His novels include Fools of FortuneFelicia’s JourneyThe Story of Lucy Gault and Love and Summer. He wrote many collections of short stories, including Beyond the Pale and After Rain, and also wrote drama. In 2002 he was knighted for his services to literature. He died in 2016.
