Volunteer for the Durham Book Festival 2015
Posted by
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work at this year’s Durham Book Festival.
The festival runs throughout October 2015, and features a host of prominent writers, poets and political minds such as Philip Pullman, Bill Bryson, Yasmin Alibhai Brown, Simon Armitage, Sinead Morrissey and Mary Portas. Download the full programme here.
As a volunteer, you’ll be allowed free entry to all Durham Book Festival events (subject to available space). You’ll also have the chance to meet some of the authors. We’ll provide food and drinks throughout your shifts, and to top it off you’ll get a free t-shirt to keep as a souvenir.
Volunteer work looks great on the CV, and we’re happy to give references if you want. Year after year volunteers have told us what a fantastic and rewarding experience working at the festival is.
The work is not difficult, but is essential to the smooth running of events. You might be responsible for ticket-selling, ushering, dealing with enquiries from the public, assisting authors and publishers, or set moving and cleaning.
This year we are looking for volunteers who can work a minimum of three shifts over the course of the Durham Book Festival. An induction meeting will be held on 6th October at Durham Town Hall at 6:30pm and all those selected to volunteer must attend.
If you’d like to apply to be a volunteer, please complete the online application form below by Friday 18th September.
We’ll contact all the selected volunteers with further information before the briefing meeting on 6th October; if you have not heard from us by then your application has not been successful.
