Writers needed to work with Cuckoo Young Writers groups

Posted by

New Writing North is looking to expand our network of writers who work with young people.

In 2013, we hope to increase the amount of work we do with young writers, which includes our out-of-school Cuckoo Young Writers programme (including fortnightly writing groups, summer schools and our online literary magazine Cuckoo Quarterly) and our work in schools. We will be working with a range of groups, from those who are already interested in writing to “harder to reach” young people who have never been involved in creative projects before.

A key element of our young writers’ programme is the quality of the writing of our group leaders. Ideally, we are looking for writers who have a history of publication and who have worked with young people in the past. However, if you are writer at an early stage of your career who would like to work with young people OR if you are an established writer who has not worked with young people in the past but who would interested in training to work in this area, we are also keen to hear from you. Writers must be based in or within travelling distance of the North East of England.

We are also keen to hear from writers who specialize in or are willing to develop workshops in more “quirky” types of writing, e.g. genre fiction, fan fiction, graphic novels, comic books.
All applicants should include a covering letter and a CV and which includes your writing CV. Please send applications to [email protected].

Please note: this is an application to join our team of freelance writers who work with young people not a specific post. We will contact you if you have been successful.
