Young writers’ summer school

Have you ever fancied writing a play but not really known where to start? Wanted to write fiction set in another time or world? Like to learn to tweet about something other than what you had for tea last night? Over the summer, New Writing North will be hosting a week’s worth of writing workshops specifically aimed at 13-19-year-olds that will give you the opportunity to take your writing to new places. Working with specialists in journalism, poetry, genre fiction and screenwriting, you’ll have a chance to both experiment with new forms and further develop your writing skills.
The Writing Summer School for young people will take place from 22-26 August at Newcastle City Library between 11am-3.30pm each day. Every session will focus on a different type of writing and will be hosted by a writer who specialises in that field. There will also be a chance to pair up with a writing mentor who can offer one-to-one feedback on your work. Places are free and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
