Six weeks of 90-minute writing workshops to help you hone your craft or pick up the pen for the first time
Are you a writer keen to develop your skills in a range of forms? Or maybe you’ve never touched pen to paper before and you just want to try your hand at something creative? This six-week course delivered by writer and lecturer Laura Fish will help you access your creativity and get words on paper.
Through weekly writing exercises you’ll explore a range of techniques. The workshops will focus on experimentation and self-expression and the writing created can be in any form or genre.

About the workshop facilitator
Laura Fish is a writer and Assistant Professor in Creative Writing, Northumbria University. Her second novel Strange Music (Jonathan Cape 2008; Vintage, 2009) was Orange Prize Listed and International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award nominated. Lying Perfectly Still (extracted in Johannesburg Review of Books, 2017) won S I Leeds Literary Prize Readers’ Choice in 2022 and was SI Leeds Literary Prize listed in 2018 and 2020.
Laura’s research involves dialogues between writers across different cultures and geographies. She has over 10 years’ experience with BBC in broadcast television and radio in news, current affairs, features and light entertainment.
