Northern Writers’ Awards Network
In addition to the individual programmes of each award strand, all Northern Writers’ Awards winners over the age of 18 will receive ongoing support as part of the Northern Writers’ Awards Talent Network (winners under 18 will receive separate support).

This support will be designed around your individual requirements as a writer. We will help you to identify your personal goals for your writing and support you as you work towards them.
The network may include a combination of the following:
- Consultations with a designated in-house contact at New Writing North.
- Advice and support for funding applications when appropriate.
- Support with brokering connections with literary agents and publishers, which may also include online or in-person 121 pitching and feedback opportunities.
- Professional development sessions for poets, which in 2025/2026 are being delivered by Jess Chandler from Prototype Publishing.
- 121 professional development sessions with literary agents, which in 2025/2026 were delivered by Liv Maidment.
- A pitching workshop which in 2026/2027 is being delivered by representatives from Curtis Brown and C&W (The Curtis Brown Group).
- Regular peer group meetings with fellow winners.
- A year’s free Society of Authors’ membership.
- A professional development session with the Society of Authors.
- An introduction to commercial publishing by Little, Brown.
- Various sessions and workshops with professional authors, who have included Steven Hall (The Raw Shark Texts, Maxwell’s Demon) and Glenda Young (The Toffee Factory Girls, Murder at the Seaview Hotel).
- An online Arvon at Home Masterclass.
All activity is subject to change based on availability and needs of each year’s cohort. We will communicate with winning writers regarding the activity shortly after the Northern Writers’ Awards ceremony.
