West End Writes

West End Writes is a community project in the Benwell and Scotswood areas of Newcastle. Since 2022, we have been working with local residents to co-create and deliver cultural opportunities in this area of the city. The programme is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and we work with a number of partner organisations to run creative activity for people of all ages living in the West End of Newcastle, including Brown Girls Write, World Writes, Remembered West and a weekly creative drop-in at St James’ Church.

Find out more below or contact Danielle Giddins (West End Writes Producer, NWN) at [email protected] if you would like to know more.

World Writes

World Writes is a free multilingual English language creative writing group for adults (16+) who speak English as a second, or other language (ESOL). World Writes encourages and supports members to think and write creatively whilst developing their existing English language skills and celebrating multilingualism. The group welcomes ESOL speakers of all levels, and supports individuals to find new ways of expressing themselves in their mother tongue whilst exploring the creative possibilities in the connection between mother tongues and English language. No experience is necessary!

Time and date: 11am-1pm, every Monday during term time
